Introduction
The aim of this guide is to provide you with a comprehensive outline of the function and usage of Crew Calling for your Fleet Broadband system. This document is divided into two sections; the first section provides the steps needed to allow an end-user to make a call using the crew calling system. The second section will describe how to configure a crew calling system on the Fleet Broadband network. This will allow a person in the field to configure and troubleshoot many common faults.
User Guide
In order to make a call from a remote site to the public switched telephone network (PSTN), a number of steps have to take place. Figure 1. provides an overview of the interconnected devices that have to communicate with each other to connect your call.
Making a call
The following procedure is to be followed when using the Crew Voice service on the Fleet Broadband terminal:
- Lift the Fleet Broadband Handset and dial 626#
- When prompted, enter your 12 digit PIN number.
- If successful, you will receive a message that states your remaining credit minutes. If unsuccessful, you will be prompted to re-enter your PIN number.
- You may now proceed to dial the phone number in the following format:
North America:
1 + area code + telephone number
International:
011 + country code + area code + telephone number
Note: Unrestricted handsets use the standard Inmarsat dialing rules. 001 + area code + telephone number
